In August – when the revision of the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG 2014) entered into force – 140.147 MWp of new solar capacity were added. In total 37,837 MWp of solar capacity were eligible for support under the EEG at the end of August, the Federal Network Agency (BNetzA) informed.
New capacity in August 2014 more than halved compared with August 2013 when 291.463 MWp were added, and was also much lower than in the same month in previous years 2012 (329.433 MWp), 2011 (612.564 MWp) and 2010 (363.394 MWp).
Based on the information published by BNetzA (please note that figures may subsequently be corrected upon new information without leading to a new publication of the monthly figures), the August 2014 capacity additions lead to the following table of German PV capacity eligible for financial support pursuant to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG).

For the new solar remuneration system as of 1 August 2014 (i.e. feed-in tariffs for new small plants in the sense of Section 37 EEG 2014 (plants up to 500 kWp) and market premium for all other new plants) as well as the monthly reductions for the months August to December 2014 please see here.
The annual growth target for new PV capacity is 2,500 MWp (Section 3 no. 3 EEG 2014).
The cap of 52 GWp at which solar support will cease to be granted for new plants that was already part of the EEG 2012 (cf. Section 20b para. 9a EEG 2012) has remained unchanged. It can now be found in Section 31 para. 6 sent. 1 EEG 2014.

37,189 MW is the correct number, not 37,837 MW
Thanks for pointing out that figures do not match. But there is an explanation, and the figures in the blog post should be correct.
The Federal Network Agency has published a total of 37,837 MWp, with 27,271 MWp for the time between 1 January 2010 until 31 August 2014 and 10,566 MWp for the time before 1 January 2010.
The latter figure has actually been corrected by BNetzA as of 30 September 2014. Previously, the total was calculated based on data from the transmission system operators had. The calculation was changed as of the entry into force of the EEG 2014 on 1 August 2014, as it was noted that previous data for 2009 was incorrect (not all installations had been properly notified to the TSOs). The 2009 difference amounted to 644 MWp, and as of 30 September 2014 this additional capacity is now included in the 10,566 MWp capacity listed as having been installed before 1 January 2010.
