The Act amending the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and further acts and ordinances that (mainly) relate to energy law has today been published in the Federal Law Gazette.
The so-called EEG 2014 or EEG 2.0 will hence enter into force on 1 August 2014 as scheduled by the government.
Promulgation ends a comparatively speedy amendment procedure that was started after the election of the grand coalition of Conservatives and Social Democrats ruling Germany since December 2013.
However, a number of important issues for the proper functioning of the German and ultimately the European energy market have not been tackled in the legislative package. The Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy (BMWi) therefore recently presented a “10-Point-Energy Agenda” comprising further main legislative projects of the government for the ongoing 18th legislative session, including an EEG 3.0.
