The Federal Council on Friday cleared the bill for a Nuclear “Location Search Act” (Standortsuchgesetz) by not raising any objections against it.
The Standortsuchgesetz sets out the steps for an unbiased, “result-open” (ergebnisoffen) search and selection of a safe permanent storage location for nuclear waste, on which Parliament will ultimately have to decide again. For more information please see the related blog posts below.
The law will partly enter into force upon promulgation and partly on 1 January 2014. For more information please see Article 6 (ref. no. 17/13471) as amended by the Parliament Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (ref. no. 17/14181).
