New Energy Initiative Aims to Help SME Implement Energy Policy Shift

The Mittelstandsinitiative Energiewende, a new project launched by the Federal Environment and Economics Ministries in cooperation with trade associations, shall help small and medium-sized companies to implement Germany’s energy policy shift towards a renewable energy supply.

Starting 1 January 2013, SMEs, which play an important role in the German economy, shall be better supported to effect the energy policy shift, the ministries and trade associations announced. Specific support shall be provided locally, information and advice on the energy turnaround and its implementation intensified and further training and qualifcation and the exchange of experience on the energy turnaround improved.

In September the Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (BMWi) had already launched a new support programme that aims to better tap the energy efficiency potential of SME.
